PAUL WRIGHT
Paul Wright, born and raised in Leicester where his studio is now, has spent the last 15 years developing a painterly language through which he seeks to capture a vitality beyond the establishment of a mere ‘likeness’ to the subject.
Paul’s artistic style is incredibly identifiable. He gained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from Falmouth School of Art in 1995, and since then he has been represented in the UK by Thompson’s Gallery, The Art Salon and Maddox Gallery, exhibiting at many major art fairs across the globe, with his portraits also being hung in the National Portrait Gallery as part of the BP Portrait Award. Paul’s artwork has been collected by the likes of John Terry, Sir Paul McCartney, Prudential, Accenture, and Smith and Williamson to name a few, and has undertaken many private and public commissions including several paintings that adorn two cruise ships owned by Cunard Line and P&O.
Predominantly working with oil paint and using a variety of different brushes and gestures, Paul’s work feels incredibly lush, expressive, and exuberant. His work remains immediate through fluency of brush marks and a rich palette, making him a glorious addition to your portfolio.
